Accessing Healing Energy Everywhere!
Glowgetters! I pray you are well and safe during this very challenging time. My hope is that the protests in the wake of the death of George Floyd will lead to a lasting change in our society.
Whether your marching, donating, reading or simply watching the current events unfold, please make time to express how you feel, be intentional about your actions and protect your mental health by practicing self-care.
My reiki, yoga and meditation practice is the glue that's holding me together during this time. What are you doing to keep your mind, body and spirit relatively balanced? If you're feeling like you need to process your emotions through journaling and open up to some healing energy, I'm available for private long distance reiki sessions via Zoom.
During this 45 minute experience, you can journal your self care intentions or honor your feelings about life in the now, create a a daily mantra to ground you during these unsteady times and receive a long distance reiki treatment. Click on the link below to register and schedule your appointment on Calendly. In the meantime, be sure to listen to the latest episode of Built By A Boss and try our Yoga Nidra meditation, you'll be glad you did. SCHEDULE
There's been a lot of conversation about how companies can be more authentic in their statements and actions regarding racial equality. On the latest episode of Built By A Boss, I speak with legendary publicist, Gwendolyn Quinn about the importance of making sure your message is attached to a concrete goal.
Gwendolyn was the publicist of the late Aretha Franklin, who was very involved in the civil rights movement. Her career in media and public relations paired her with some of the industry’s brightest stars including Whitney Houston, Chaka Khan, Sean “P. Diddy” Combs, Queen Latifah, Kirk Franklin, CeCe Winans, Karen Clark Sheard, The Isley Brothers, Bishop TD Jakes, Prince and countless others. She’s the founder of the Global Communicator and before starting her company, Gwendolyn Quinn Public Relations, she worked as an executive at Capital Records and Arista records with music industry giant, Clive Davis.
WE TALK ABOUT:
Police brutality protests around the world.
How companies can not only respond, but change the narrative through long term action.
The impact of George Floyd’s death on black America and what she believes we should be doing between now and election day.
Why we need more black journalists in newsrooms around the country.
Why it's important to include more black publicists and managers on the teams of A-list celebrities.
Several weeks ago, I started teaching a class on entrepreneurship entitled, How to Turn Your Hobby Or Passion Into Increase And Income.
The class was so successful that I decided to make the information available in a book and video format for those who cannot attend the virtual course. Currently, you can click the link below and DOWNLOAD the e-book on our website, or listen to the entire course on TEACHABLE.
It was nice to get a little bit of good news last week from BlogHer. In the effort to elevate melanated voices, they curated a list of Empowering Black Female Voices. I was a part of the group of women selected from their community of creators. Click the link below to check out the feeds of my fellow creators and follow them on Instagram.
I love Yoga Nidra and this meditation is a perfect tool to use when you want to relax without completely going to sleep.Yoga Nidra is an ancient guided meditation practice that is known as “yogic sleep.” It helps calm the mind, promotes a state of deep rest and may help you unwind and relieve stress in your body.
During Yoga Nidra, you will feel completely relaxed, while still maintaining conscious awareness. With the help of my verbal prompts, the meditation is easy to follow and is good for beginners and experienced practitioners.
Try it at home or where ever it is quiet and you feel most relaxed to get the best result. Practicing Yoga Nidra during the day can strengthen your ability to focus. Since you are constantly shifting your awareness, it feels like you're giving your brain a work out, in a good way, during the meditation.
